Our Vision

This website is dedicated to presenting some of the formidable voices that have laid bare the true nature of war.  The manipulation behind the scenes and the true beneficiaries.  The voices span the centuries and disciplines whether history, journalism, literature, the military or politics.

As we see politicians dragging people into wars across the world, it is time to recall the lessons and learn to step back.   People are not endlessly at war with their neighbours and so disputes can be resolved in non-violent ways.

We must no longer be deaf to the infinite wisdom that has preceded us and not allow ourselves to be swept along with the realpolitik that may push nations into war.   What is more, we must consider the many alternative options that exist to bloody conflict:   dialogue, negotiation, mediation and trusted courts.

Human life is too precious to squander in the killing fields and politicians who push the public in this direction should be called out as not having learned the lessons of the past.

Our Mission

Our hope is that as many people as possible visit the pages of this website and come to the realisation that war is not inevitable.  Come to realise that it is not the politicians' job to order populations to war, but rather to do their utmost to save lives and find solutions that do not involve war.

None of the four mainstream parties in their manifestos for the 2024 election mentioned the importance of diplomacy and peace talks in avoiding war.  Instead, they all committed a massive 2.5% of GDP to defence (aka war).  A spend of 2.5% of GDP is equivalent to £57 billion, so £7 billion more than the £50 billions annual spend on schools in the UK (see https://tinyurl.co /jfzw7cbd).  We also know that £3.7 billion would buy 40 completely new hospitals (see https://tinyurl.com/8e7a5pjv).

Our Values

We represent the voices of people past and present.   Of writers, philosophers, military personnel, politicians, journalists and parents who have discussed the profits and losses of  war.  Incredibly, this subject is not always taught in our schools and so this site aims to be a single reference point for wisdom on the folly of war.

This site is apolitical and is the work of several people including a University Professor and Barrister.   It offers insights from insights from people across the ages including army personnel and writers, journalists. and media commentators.

The starting point for this website was in May 2024 when a snap election was called in Great Britain.   Brave voices were suggesting that war could be looming and a major reason for the timing of the election, so that the baton could be passed to individuals happy to take Britain to war.  There were murmurs of the drums of war being beaten in other European countries, with no open debate on this issue.

Since war would have a devastating effect on people, old and young, and since the topic is not being debated, this site is here to fill the void.

Remember that politicians - our Servant Members of Parliament - have a mandate from the people and the people have a right to ask questions of the politicians' intentions.   Wherever you are in the world, challenge your elected representatives to press for peace not war.
